CEO Spotlight: Umama Kibria

UMAMA KIBRIA IS the co-founder and CEO of SweatPack, a social platform that encourages its users to move, sweat, and socialize with a weekly fitness team. All you have to do is find an activity that suits you, select your time slot and Stay Moving with your teammates on a weekly basis. It's a unique approach to the ever growing home-workout-craze as well as a great way to stay motivated and moving with like-minded people throughout the week.

Umama tells us one of the reasons she started SweatPack in the first place was through the reality check that hit her after graduating college. "After college, they throw you out in the real world to figure out your passion, purpose, and relationships with no guidance," she tells us. "I used fitness as a way to find myself through discipline and consistent habits. It changed my life. I started my first business, traveled the world, attracted the love of my life, and learned to trust myself." But from there, Umama continued to be thrown into the fire, which only made her stronger, and was eventually inspired to take her own route. From these tribulations, she only gained wisdom. "I learned my earned secret," Umama says. "When people commit to a fitness routine, they love that they transform into game-changing leaders that disrupt the world. I knew I had to share this gift of fitness with everyone."

"The psychological momentum from training my discipline and commitment in the gym gives me the energy to show up in my work fully present to give to others."

Being no stranger to the world of fitness, Umama had a keen eye on some of the industry's commonly overlooked inconsistencies. "I worked out at over 400 gyms across the world, connected with over 100,000+ people on social media, and hosted fitness events nationwide. I learned from my community that our main problem with fitness is staying consistent," says Umama. "As I was playing flag football, I questioned why the recreational sports team model didn't exist in the fitness industry. Why couldn't I join a weekly yoga, barre, or CrossFit team?" she wondered. "So I built recreational fitness teams‚ SweatPacks."

Umama draws inspiration to Stay Moving from all over. But if you had to shave it down to a single word, it'd be, "Momentum," she says. Adding, "I've learned that fueling myself with growth, love, and adventure as my daily macronutrients allow me to move forward in life selflessly. I love strength and conditioning training then executing with flag football! It's all fast, agile, and team-oriented. That fuels my work mentality," says Umama. "The psychological momentum from training my discipline and commitment in the gym gives me the energy to show up in my work fully present to give to others." And Lasso performance socks are there to support Umama's growth whether she's powering through strength and conditioning, or on the field playing flag football.

"Lasso compression socks keep my foundation protected so I can focus on connecting with my body and community around me!"

You can argue that being a leader is something someone is born with. On the flip side, someone can obviously learn the traits and check all the boxes, but it takes experience and empathy to be the fearless leader your team needs. A natural leader, you could say. And Umama undeniably wears these traits on her sleeve. She credits her parents who showed her resilience and kindness early on in her life, making it no surprise her strengths come locked and loaded with kindness of her own, on both a personal and professional level. "I've spent so much time in therapy working on my self-awareness and dating myself," says Umama. "I'm able to selflessly show up for others, take care of my team and grow together."

Lasso performance socks play an important role in keeping Umama moving. The unique compression technology in Lasso's design keeps her foundation protected and her foot work sharp, whether she's in the zone during a workout or recovering afterwards. "Lasso socks keep me fast, agile and intentional about every step I take in the gym or in the work field," says Umama. "My clients are gym owners so I'm constantly trying out new types of workouts to bring in new clients for them. My mind and foot work have to be sharp to stay healthy. Lasso compression socks keep my foundation protected so I can focus on connecting with my body and community around me!"

Every business owner sets out to achieve something, whether it's personal goals, self fulfillment, financial freedom, or the opportunity to help others benefit from their vision. The list can be as inspiring as it can be long. And Umama's vision is no different. "SweatPack helps you sweat and socialize with your weekly fitness team," she tells us. "We hope to create a world where people find movement that matters to them and connect with people along the journey. That's when people learn true leadership: discipline, commitment, kindness, and teamwork."

It's no secret the fitness industry is booming with talented, motivated individuals. But there is always a reason to try something new, to change the direction and disrupt the norm. Umama noticed this and made moves. When movement becomes your mission, you'll always be moving in the right direction. Thankfully, Umama is one of the many talented athletes in the world practicing what she preaches. "Now is the time for the fitness industry to transform," Umama declares. "We know digital fitness is here to stay, but consumers will be searching for complimentary fitness services that fuel their mental, physical and social wellbeing. We know consumer demand will shift to unbundled gym memberships and corporate wellness will focus on employee social engagement and retention during remote work," she adds. "And we'll be there to help them sweat and socialize, consistently."
