The brand aims to expand their consumer reach with Hellmuth’s sports and media connections
ATLANTA – April 23, 2019 – Lasso, the first company to utilize biomedical engineering in the design of sportswear, announces their newest investor and advisor, professional poker player Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth has won a record fifteen World Series of Poker bracelets and is a 2007 inductee of the WSOP’s Hall of Fame.
The Lasso Compression Sock is the first in-garment joint support product with medical backing. It has been shown to provide twice as much ankle support as traditional athletic socks. Hellmuth is an avid sports fan, and has played poker with many well-known athletes, celebrities, and media personalities. These connection will help Lasso reach an even wider group of athletes and investors for future projects and investment rounds. He’s also a well reputed tech investor and advisor, involved in companies like Muzik Headphones, Deck of Dice, BSpot, TravelSmarter, BlitzPredict, and more.
“Lasso is an exciting venture for me because not only am I a big sports fan, but I also have close relationships with many athletes, team owners and industry leaders. Lasso is a rapidly growing company, and I see this as an opportunity to invest in a brand that is on a path to make a positive impact,” said Hellmuth.
15 time World Series of Poker champion, Phil Hellmuth.
“We’re really excited to see Phil wearing Lasso Compression Socks, both on his flights and at the poker table, but also to be joining his network and sharing our mission of preventative health,” says Partha Unnava, Lasso CEO and Founder. “It really means a lot to me when others feel passionately enough about our brand and mission that they dedicate their time and energy to help us grow.”
Lasso holds an impressive roster of stakeholders, including NFL Hall of Fame Inductee, Champ Bailey, who serves as the company’s Head of Athlete Relations and on the Board of Directors.
The current board of advisors includes radio host and music personality DJ Skee, celebrity sports rehabilitation doctor Dr. Patrick Khaziran, VR business leader Guy Primus, and now Phil Hellmuth.
Recent bridge round investors include NBA legend Kurt Thomas, co-founder of VaynerSports AJ Vaynerchuk, Chief Innovation Officer at the PGA Arjun Chowdri, and professional poker players Dan Colman, Jeff Gross, and Charlie Hook. Lasso also recently announced their athlete partnerships with WNBA player Angel McCoughtry and streetball legend Bone Collector.
Lasso’s mission is to create access to preventative health, especially amongst the youth. Lasso’s patent-pending TrueCompression™ technology provides more than twice the amount of support of a traditional athletic sock, to help stabilize the ankle and improve movement. Lasso studied kinesio-taping and ankle braces to create an all-in-one ankle support solution that is built into the comfort of an athletics and sports sock for men, women and kids, helping to prevent costly ankle injuries. Lasso socks are a favorite item for professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, and the Olympics, and will be announcing a new line of products this summer.
